I’d like to start by saying hello. My name is Sean McCarthy. I grew up on Ameila Island, Florida – just south of Cabin Bluff. Growing up, I was either in, on, or around the water, which became my passion and a life-long love for the water and the outdoors. I am the newest member of the Cabin Bluff fishing staff and am so excited to be a part of the Cabin Bluff team.
The quality of fishing at Cabin Bluff is a very well-kept secret - specifically in the backwaters. There will be days when we are fishing and never see another boat. My passion is sight fishing, whether it is for schooling or tailing redfish in the flats, triple tail in the sound, or cobia off the beach. When I’m not sight fishing, I enjoy catching an array of shark species behind shrimp boats as they chum the water with bycatch when emptying their nets.
As we approach mid-summer, my focus turns to tarpon. The tarpon action around Cumberland Island and in the river can be off the charts. The sheer power and acrobatic performance that takes place after they are hooked is something you will never forget. Which, by the way, is the Cabin Bluff fishing team’s goal – provide you with an exceptional fishing experience that you will never forget.
We are very excited about the newest additions to our fleet – a Hells Bay state of the art flats boat, two 24’ Pathfinder Bay boats, and a 30’ Cobia offshore boat. These boats allow us to fish from the skinniest of backwater to the deepest of blue water!
The redfish action has been great the past few weeks. With warmer days, water temperatures are rising and the fishing action has been getting better and better every week. Triple tail are starting to show up and cobia will be here any day now. We are ready to make your day on the water one you will never forget! Come see us!
