Wow - what an amazing weekend! It's really tough to do everything offered at Cabin Bluff however our guests this past weekend sure gave it an all out effort.
Upon arrival, guests were surprised by a combination of welcome gifts from Cabin Bluff and Davis himself. One in particular a signed Ryder Cup Flag by the Captain of the 2012 US Cup Team!! These are unreal and such a treat.
We were fortunate to have some big names join us for the weekend, both in the turkey and outdoor world. Lamar Williams a master turkey call maker know for his world class calls, Chris Hawley with Mossy Oak and avid turkey hunter, and Chris Williams the famous oyster knife maker from outside Charleston, SC (featured in Garden & Gun) mingled with guests and shared their story from humble beginnings to perfecting an outdoor inspired art.
Congratulations to Sam Croft and guide David Bruce. Sam got his first ever turkey on his Friday morning hunt. What a fantastic bird! Roughly about 18 pounds with a nice long beard and sharp spurs – definitely a trophy. Other guests’ harvested birds as well in fact a total of three birds found new homes outside of Cabin Bluff.
Sam and his 1st turkey at Cabin Bluff.
Of course chasing turkey was only a small part of the weekend. In fact many guests enjoyed inshore fishing for trout and redfish, tours of Cumberland Island and Wild Boar hunting. After some time on the water paddleboarding, one of Davis’s favorite pastimes, we retreated to the golf course for some private instruction and tips from the man himself.
Returning from afternoon fishing trip, let the stories begin!
Chris's Redfish, nice catch.

Some more time on the water.

As an aspiring part time golfer, I’ve not been fortunate enough to see a PGA TOUR Player like Davis swing and strike a ball up close and can only describe it as awe inspiring! The fluid motion of swing and the sound of the ball taking flight are one of those experiences you never forget and only hope to replicate during my own round someday.
Our instructor for the day, Davis Love III
Around the green Davis talked about chipping techniques, offered some practice drills that he does on a regular basis to keep in top condition and even gave some putting instruction.
Individual instruction from Davis.
I can’t forget the food - we all left several pounds heavier! Cocktails and dinner each night we outstanding – smothered quail, grilled Mahi, Prime Filet and Bananas Foster Cheesecake…I can go on and on.
Master oyster shucker - Dave Edwards
Great conversation, great wine and an overall outstanding weekend! Thank you to all those who joined us this weekend. We are looking forward to it again next year!!!
